Policies and Code of Conduct

Student & Family Handbook

Our guidelines for teachers, parents, and students to ensure a supportive, Christ-centered learning environment.

1. Our Vision & Core Beliefs

Salt teachers assist parents in preparing children to excel. Parents remain the primary educator and are responsible for ensuring coursework is completed.

Core Biblical Beliefs:
  • Salvation is by grace through faith alone in Christ (Ephesians 2:9).
  • Man is sinful by nature and cannot earn salvation through good works (Ephesians 2:1-2).
  • We are made acceptable to God through Christ’s righteousness (Romans 3:21-31).
  • The Bible is God's inerrant, sufficient Word for life and godliness (2 Peter 1:2-21).

Classes meet Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM.

2. Shared Responsibilities
  • Salt HA: Provides experienced instructors, keeps class sizes small (5–20 students), and maintains regular website updates.
  • Instructors: Provide course descriptions, syllabi, book lists, and resolve conflicts biblically.
  • Parents: Purchase materials on time, ensure schoolwork is completed, keep sick children home (fever-free for 24 hours), and follow FL homeschool laws.
  • Students: Arrive on time, come prepared, respect authority and peers, and follow all conduct rules.
3. Attendance Policy
  • Late Arrivals: Students arriving more than 10 minutes after class begins will be directed to study hall or sent home with a parent/guardian.
  • Tardy Threshold: Accumulating 4 tardies will result in a demerit issued by the Dean or Guidance Counselor.
4. Cell Phone & Other Electronic Policy
  • Cell Phones: NO cell phone use permitted during Salt hours (8:15 AM – 4:00 PM). Phones must be turned off in backpacks. Confiscated phones must be retrieved by parents.
    • First time student can retrieve phone at the end of the day.
    • Second and third time parent must retrieve the phone.
    • Fourth time demerit.
  • Electronics: Laptops/iPads are permitted for academic purposes only at the instructor's discretion.
5. Campus Rules (Study Hall, Lunch & Safety)
  • K–5th Grade: Parents must sign students in/out and walk them to class. No study hall option available.
  • 6th–12th Grade Study Hall: Required when not in class. Quiet academic study only (no phones or AirPods).
  • Lunch & Driving: High school drivers require written parent permission to leave for lunch. Unapproved departures result in a 1-2 week suspension.
6. Dress Code Requirements

Clothing must be neat, clean, modest, and non-distracting:

  • Tops must cover the torso/cleavage (no tank tops or crop tops). Leggings require a top reaching the hip bone.
  • Skirts/dresses must be no shorter than 2 inches above the knee; shorts no shorter than 4 inches above the knee.
  • Pants must fit properly at the hipbone without tears near the hips or dragging hems.
  • Shoes are required at all times. Elementary students may not wear open-toed sandals (Crocs are allowed).
7. Discipline, Bullying & Demerits
  • Demerits: Issued for tardiness, incomplete homework, or disruptive behavior. Repeated offenses lead to removal from class without a refund.
  • Zero-Tolerance Bullying: Verbal, social, or physical bullying will be investigated immediately. Confirmed bullying results in immediate dismissal without refunds.
  • Grievances: Disputes should be resolved biblically and directly between parties in good faith rather than through legal action.
  • General Behavior: No public displays of affection, gossip, rudeness, or weapons/pocket knives. Respect property and clean up after yourself.
